How we started
In their final year of high school, Rachel and Daniel actually danced in a combined schools hip hop group (LOL) but didn’t really know each other. It wasn’t until years later that they re-met through friends and realised the connection. Sorry no photos! (phew)
After high school, Rachel moved to Hawaii for a few years where she danced, travelled, and continued her love for the outdoors and adventure. She moved back to Brisbane, Aus to finish her Personal Training studies.
After high school, Daniel was in his final year of a three contract with the Brisbane broncos. He was playing semi-professional for the Redcliffe Dolphins in the QLD CUP and studying to become a Personal Trainer.
Both Rachel and Daniel began working together in a Personal Training Studio. They spent 4 years, working together with the shared vision of helping people lose weight and find confidence. Still their favourite success stories to date, are Daniels two sisters losing a combined total of 90kg while with them!
Team Rehab! We have a habit of doing things together a lot lol. Dan had a shoulder reconstruction from a footy injury. Soon after Rach Tore her ACL playing Sevens and had a knee reconstruction. This was the beginning of #Teamrehab.
After 6 long months of rehab – which included training and completing the Gold Coast half marathon because she was only allowed to “run slowly” – the physio gave Rachel the all clear to go back to the gym – and she signed up to Crossfit Torian that same day. So began her journey into the Crossfit world!
Moved to Sydney for a change of scenery! Joined up to Crossfit Play, dan in the middle of rehabbing his shoulder from his SECOND shoulder surgery. Rach started competing in local Crossfit comps with her Play community. Dan very quickly fell in love with Crossfit and planned to compete as soon as his shoulder healed.
Begin The Polynesian Project. Our passion project to help reduce the obesity rate amongst our Polynesian people. An absolutely amazing community, and a mission that is very close to our hearts. We were able to help hundreds of people online and were honoured to receive an award from the NSW government.
Dan, being the all-in kind of guy – decided that his first go at individual competition would be the New Zealand Nationals. He qualified and flew over to New Zealand to compete against the best in the country. He absolutely loved the challenge which has fuelled the fire to keep competing as an individual athlete.
Finish studying with MNU, a company in the UK, and become MNU Certified Nutritionists. This qualification translates to a fully qualified and insured nutritionist here Australia and opens so many doors for us to be able to help more people.
Both qualify and compete at The Torian Pro – one of Australias biggest and best run competitions. Dan competed in a team and came 2nd and Rachel competed for the first time as an individual finishing 11th amongst a solid female field. One of the best experiences to date!
